Hello, World — Why I'm Starting This Blog
There’s a particular kind of pressure that comes with starting something in public. You want the first thing you put out to be good, polished, considered, worth someone’s time. But that same pressure is usually what stops people from ever starting at all.
So I’m going to skip past all of that and just begin.
What this space is
This is my personal blog. I’ll write about software, side projects, ideas I’m working through, and whatever else ends up being worth putting into words. Some posts will be technical. Some won’t be. Some will be half-formed. That’s fine.
The goal isn’t to build an audience or establish a brand. It’s simpler than that: I want to think more clearly, and writing is one of the best tools I’ve found for doing that. Sharing it publicly adds just enough accountability to keep me honest.
Why now
I’ve had versions of this site sitting half-finished for longer than I’d like to admit. The usual story: started it, got busy, abandoned it, started over. This time I’m doing it differently: ship first, improve later.
The posts you’re reading right now aren’t finished. The design will change. The content will be inconsistent for a while. That’s okay. A blog that exists and is rough is more useful than one that’s perfect and hypothetical.
What to expect
Mostly software and building things: code, projects, problems I’ve worked through. But also the bigger stuff: what it looks like to try to build a meaningful life, not just a productive one. I think those two things are more connected than most people let on.
If any of that sounds interesting, stick around. If not, no hard feelings.
Either way, hello.
